Two killed as gunmen attack Minna medium prison, free 16 condemned prisoners
A prison officer and a motorcyclist, have been confirmed dead after criminals launched a jailbreak at the Minna Medium Security Prison last night and in the process freed 16 condemned prisoners.
The spokesman for the Niger state prison service Rabiu Shuaibu confirm the story.
“The unfortunae incident was perpetrated by armed criminals who attacked the prison and gained access after an exchange of fire with prison armed men. This led to the death of a prison officer and an Okada rider who convey a prison officer on night duty,” Shuaibu said
According to Shuaibu some of the escaped prisoners have been re arrested.
“The Prison authority in Minna is profiling the number of fleeing inmates to ascertain the escaped prisoners. So far, through the combined effort of all security agencies in the state, seven prisoners who attempted to escape have been recaptured and returned to the prison.” he said

Police arrest notorious gunrunner who supply arms to cattle wrestlers, kidnappers and armed ribbers in Katsina.

The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a notorious gunrunner, who supply arms and ammunition to cattle rustlers, kidnappers and armed robbers hiding at Rugu forest, Safana Local Government Area of the state. The suspect Safiyanu Amadu, 50, of Barbelu village, Bakori LGA, was nabbed on July 9,  following a tip off. Amadu was chased and arrested deep inside Rugu forest and two locally made revolver pistols and one 62mm life ammunition of Ak.47 rifle were recovered from his possession. The suspect has confessed to have intends selling same to cattle rustlers inside the forest. He is currently assisting the police in their investigation.
