Little Eyitayo who was missing during the fire on Otedola bridge is yet to be found

Little Eyitayo who went missing during the Otedola bridge fire incident, is yet to be found. LIB reached out to Eyitayo's aunt, Funmi Balogun, and she confirmed that the little boy and the driver, are yet to be found. Social media was rife this evening with reports that he had been found. It turned out to be fake. The boy that was found is someone else's child. Eyitayo and his twin sister, Eyitoke, were with their mother and her driver on the Otedola bridge when the explosion occured.  As they ran for their lives, his mum carried Eyitoke and asked Joseph to come along with Eyitayo Sadly both Etitayo and Joseph are nowhere to be found. Anyone with useful information should please call 08033148161 or approach the nearest police station. 

Suicide:/LASU student jumps into river from Fakomo Bridge.

LASU By Kazeem Ugbodaga A student of the Lagos State University, LASU, on Monday jumped into the river from Falomo Bridge in a bid to commit suicide. The student’s name was given as Kingsley Gabriel. The incident took place on Monday afternoon, General Manager, Lagos State Waterways Authority, LASWA, has said. The student was said to have been quickly rescued from drowning in the water by LASWA officials who responded swiftly to the ioncident. A LASWA source said Gabriel was taken to the Falomo Police Station after he was rescued by officials. It was not clear why Gabriel decided to end his life by jumping from the Falomo Bridge into the water. Recently, a woman was said to have jumped into the Lagoon from Third Mainland Bridge and was never seen since then.

Woman sentence to 5 years imprisonment for kidnapping 2year old girl

An Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court, sitting on Friday in Lagos, sentenced a 35-year-old woman, Jumoke Adesida to five years in prison for kidnapping a two-year-old girl. Delivering judgment, Chief Magistrate A. Ipaye-Nwachukwu, sentenced Adesida without an option to pay fine. “The accused is hereby found guilty and convicted for abduction, which is punishable under section 277 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State,” she ruled. Ipaye-Nwachukwu ordered that the convict serve the jail term at the Kirikiri Maximum Prison. Earlier, Insp. Adeshina Adesanya, for prosecution, told the court that the convict committed the offence on June 22, at 9 a.m., at Community Road, Odogunyan in Ikorodu. He said that the convict kidnapped the two-year-old daughter of Mrs Aminat Abidoye.j Adesanya said the offence contravened Section 277 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Community accuses pastor of sleeping with members, shut church

A Kenyan pastor, David Kamau, who has been expelled from his church for allegedly having sexual relations with seven of his church members said that the women seduced him. Speaking to  The Nairobian , Kamau denied the allegations, claiming the women approached him and he expelled one of them who was pressing him too hard for sex. “I know the complainants and they have been members of my church. I am surprised that some of them are accusing me yet they are the ones who approached me. The Nyumba Kumi leaders did not give me a chance to defend myself and accused me of being a sex pest,” said the pastor. Ex minister, 4 others remanded for alleged money laundering

EFCC-Operatives A Federal High Court in Damaturu, Yobe on Friday remanded a former Minister of Science and Technology, Abdu Bulama, and four others for alleged money laundering. Justice Isa Hamadashin, gave the order when the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) presented a seven-count charge before the court accusing the defendants of money laundering. An EFCC Prosecutor, Mr Alkasim Ja’afar, informed the court that the accused people “committed the offences contrary to and punishable under Sections 16(1) (d) and 16(2) (b) of the Money Laundering Prohibition Act, 2011 as amended.” The other accused people are Mohammed Kadai; Abbagana Tata, Muhammad Mamu and Hassan Ibn-Jaks. Although the defendants pleaded not guilty, the court ordered that they should be remanded in EFCC custody, pending the determination of an application for their bail. Meanwhile, the court has fixed July 3, to determine the application for bail and Sept. 24 for hearing.

A woman was apprehended today while attempting to dump her dead baby at Bakassi IDP camp in Maiduguri, Borno capital. She wrapped her baby in a sack and was about to dump the dead child when she was apprehended. She was paraded round the camp by other IDPs before she was handed over to the security officers. The reason for her attempting to dump her dead child is yet unknown. 

Another petrol tanker goes up in flame (photos)

Another tanker explosion happened along Suleja road in Niger state this morning. This accident occured barely 24 hours after the petrol tanker explosion on Otedola bridge in Lagos that claimed the lives of 9 persons including a minor.

FRSC says 9 bodies were burnt beyond recognition in the Otefola bridge tanker explosion

The Lagos commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission FRSC, Hyginus Omeje, says nine persons were burnt beyong recognition in the petrol tanker explosion that occured at Otedola bridge in Lagos this evening. He said 54 vehicles were also burnt in the inferno and that efforts to remove the damaged vehicles to open up the road is still ongoing.

Young Nigerian man marries his much older white lover in Enugu State

An elderly white woman has found love in the arms of a young Nigerian boy and they tied the knot in Enugu state, Nigeria. The bride is from Texas while the groom is from the South East region of Nigeria. Friends of the groom were present to celebrate the union but the bride had no friend or family present. Friends shared photos from the celebration online but there's something off about the photos. While everyone looks happy, there's a lady in blue who seems unable to hide her displeasure and people are wondering if she's the groom's Nigerian bae. See photos below.

Buhari has failed Nigerians, government lost basis of existence- Akin Oyebode

Prof Akin Oyebode Professor of International Law, Akin Oyebode on Wednesday came hard on the government of President Muhammadu Buhari over uncontrollable herdsmen killings in some parts of the country, saying the president has failed Nigerians and that there is no basis for the government to continue to exist. Prof. Oybode spoke with newsmen shortly after delivering a lecture at the 2018 Public Lecture/Book Presentation of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Lagos State Information Chapel, held at the Combo Hall, Lagos Television, in Ikeja, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria. According to Oyebode, Nigeria was now a failing State and that everybody must acknowledge it, saying that “Nigeria is failing state, although it has not completely failed, but it is failing and we have to quickly address that. They say when there is fire on the mountain, the children will run. Things are getting worse and worse in the country all hands must be on deck to safe Nigeria from total destruction.

Trader slashes landlady with razor blade

Razor blade A 30 -year-old trader, Mariam Amos, was on Thursday brought before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly inflicting life threatening injuries on her landlady with a razor. According to the Prosecutor, ASP Ezekiel Ayorinde, the accused committed the offence on June 12 at Alakuko, Lagos. He said that the accused, inflicted deep cuts on the body of her landlady, Mrs Tolani Sholanke because she gave her a quit notice. Ayorinde told the court that Sholanke gave the accused a quit notice over her troublesome behaviour with co-tenants in the compound. He said Sholanke reported the case and the accused was arrested. The offence, he said, contravened Section 246 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015(Revised). If convicted, Amos is liable to three years in prisons. Amos, who resides at Alakuko, Lagos, however, pleaded not guilty to the offence. Magistrate B.O Osunsanmi, admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N50, 000 with two sureties in like sum

Cleaner overcome with emotion after students raised money to send him on holiday.

A university cleaner, loved so much by students, was reduced to tears after students raised money to send him to Jamaica on holiday. Herman Gordon is loved by everyone at Bristol University for his positive attitude and happy-go-lucky nature. They decided they wanted to reward him and over 230 students donated to a JustGiving page that raised £1,500 for the cleaner's family to go on a trip abroad. He was called "the epitome of happiness" by students as the crowdfunding appeal was launched. "The Jamaican cleaner in the med library is the jolliest man I have ever met, he makes me smile even when I’m in the deepest depths of revision… If you wanna reason to smile, go talk to him for a min or two," the crowdfunding appeal read. Male nurse dies of lassa fever in Edo State

An outbreak of Lassa fever has claimed the life of Mr Henry Ehimati, a male nurse working with Okomu Oil Palm Company staff clinic, located in Ovia South-West Local Government Area of Edo. The victim, said to be in his 30s and married with a child, worked at the clinic, but lived with his family at Upper Sakponba area of Benin whenever he was off duty. When a doctor in charge of the disease control at the clinic observed the deceased was unsually weak with high fever, he decided to admit him at the clinic and run tests on him. When they suspected that he might be suffering from Lassa fever, they decided to transfer him to the Lassa fever centre at Irrua Teaching Hospital. Former Globacom Manager, Okon Iyanam assassinated in Ogun

A former Executive Director, Marketing Communication at telecommunications company,  Globacom , Okon Iyanam, was reportedly shot dead by unidentified gunmen at his guesthouse in Mowe, Ogun State yesterday June 27th. According to reports, the gunmen after gaining entrance into his guesthouse, made their way into his room where they woke him up and then shot him at close range. Iyanam was until his death the chief executive officer of Bond Consulting. He was a pioneer staff of Globacom, serving as a special adviser to the chairman, Mike Adenuga, and was executive director, Marketing communications before he left for his private practice. He was also a former Akwa Ibom governorship aspirant under the platform of Accord Party.

Two kids burnt to death in mysterious fire outbreak in Ondo state

24 hours after fire outbreak ravaged 100 lock-up shops in Akure, the Ondo State capital, two siblings were roasted to death by another mysterious fire that gutted their home located at Edo Lodge in the metropolis. The siblings, two-year-old ltunu and four-year-old Damilare Omolere, were left in the care of their 11-year-old elder sister, while their parents went out. While their father, Bode, travelled out of the state, their mother, Blessing, was equally not at home on the sad day.  The eldest child equally left the toddlers alone in the house only to return later to find the house engulfed in flames. Sources said the fire may have been caused by a candle that was left on the table by their sister before she left the house. Photos shared by a Facebook user yesterday, shows some police officers seemingly assaulting a commercial driver in Port Harcourt for allegedly refusing to give them bribe. Evangelist Charles Awuzie has written an open letter to Bishop David Oyedepo in which he advised him to do more for Nigeria than just lay curses. His open letter came after a prayer said by Bishop David Oyedepo this morning at the Covenant Hour of Prayer was shared on Facebook. Oyedepo cursed Fulani herdsmen killing innocent Nigerians during the prayer. In response, Charles Awuzie reminded Oyedepo that he also laid curses on Boko Haram terrorists when they were killing innocent citizens yet nothing happened. In the same way, Awuzie said his curses on herdsmen will not work. Awuzie advised Oyedepo to forget about cursing and, instead, preach God's love to the people. He added: "You are a powerful brand.
