The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a notorious gunrunner, who supply arms and ammunition to cattle rustlers, kidnappers and armed robbers hiding at Rugu forest, Safana Local Government Area of the state. The suspect Safiyanu Amadu, 50, of Barbelu village, Bakori LGA, was nabbed on July 9,  following a tip off. Amadu was chased and arrested deep inside Rugu forest and two locally made revolver pistols and one 62mm life ammunition of Ak.47 rifle were recovered from his possession. The suspect has confessed to have intends selling same to cattle rustlers inside the forest. He is currently assisting the police in their investigation.

The black woman who was spotted climbing the  Statue of Liberty  on Wednesday, prompting authorities to evacuate Liberty Island has been arrested. The lady identified as  Therese Patricia Okoumou , a 44-year-old immigrant from the Democratic Republic of the Congo stayed for nearly three hours on the base of the statue before she was rescued and arrested. Officers from the NYPD’s Emergency Service Unit transported her to a federal detention center on Wednesday night. Her case is reportedly being handled by prosecutors in the Southern District of New York. A teenager returned from boarding school only to be welcomed with the sad news that her dad had been burnt to death in the massacre that took place in Plateau state, when suspected herdsmen attacked a community, and she broke down in uncontrollable tears. The girl, named Chap, returned to her community but was told she couldn't go home because their house had been razed to the ground in the attack. Still in her school uniform, she was taken to an IDP camp in Heipang with the hopes of reuniting with her family, but on getting there, she was informed that her dad was burnt to death in the attack. Okada riders An official of Amalgamated Commercial Motorcycle Owners and Riders Association of Nigeria (ACOMORAN) on Wednesday punched a commercial motorcyclist, popularly known as ‘Okada rider’ to death over his refusal to obtain the mandatory daily union ticket of N150. It was learnt that the official simply identified as Saheed had stopped the victim who was identified as Ibrahim Raji at Iyana – Mortuary area of Abeokuta metropolis and demanded for his ticket which he could not produce. Raji was said to have argued with Saheed, insisting that he was a bricklayer going to work and not an okada man’ that would obtain the ACOMORAN’s daily ticket. His refusal to obtain the ticket, however, infuriated Saheed who later dragged him down from his motorcycle and punched him on the forehead which made him fell into the drainage channel and died. Justice Maurine Adaobi Onyetenu gave the order on Wednesday based on the suit filed Kanmi Ajibola and Sulaiman Adeniyi. They had three months ago written to both the lower and the upper chambers of the National Assembly on the need to impeach President Buhari, citing alleged constitutional breaches by the President and threatened that they will approach the court if they fail to act accordingly. But when the lawmakers refused, they headed for court and filed a suit at the Federal High Court, Osogbo asking for an order of mandamus to compel both the Senate and the House of Representatives to start the impeachment proceedings of President Buhari. A newborn baby with her umbilical cord still attached was found abandoned in a paper bag left in front of a flats complex at Jalan Hospital in Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia on Tuesday night. The baby was found by a man who had spotted the bag with the baby inside, dangling on the side mirror of at 12.15am. The baby, who was still alive but cold and hungry was then taken to Raja Permisuri Bainun Hospital for medical attention. Ipoh deputy police chief Supt. Abdul Rani Aliad confirmed the discovery of the baby.

A 92-year-old woman has allegedly killed her son in Arizona because she did not want to be sent to an assisted living facility. Anna Mae Blessing was charged with first degree murder, aggravated assault and kidnapping after authorities found her 72-year-old son dead on Monday at their home in Fountain Hills. Blessing hid two pistols in the pockets of her robe and shot her son several times in his bedroom, the sheriff's office said in a statement. Her son's girlfriend was also in the room and said she heard Blessing telling her son she was tired of the way he treated her, court documents said. "From my understanding, she had thought about it for a few days because there was a dispute regarding her son wanting to put her in an assisted living home," Maricopa County Sgt.
