Court grants Biafran women freedom

Biafran women demand Kanu’s release An  Owerri high court  on Friday granted the unconditional release of 114 women alleged to be members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) group. A  magistrate’s court in Owerri had ordered  the women to be reminded after they were arrested on Friday August 17 by the police for demanding to know the whereabouts of IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu. They were also held for unlawful assembly. The bail application filed by the lead counsel to the women, Ejiofor Uche was not opposed by the police..  Police prosecutor Theaddus Oke,, disclosed that the case had been referred to the state Ministry of Justice for advice. He said that the police had no say in whatever decision that was taken by the court. The arrests sparked off widespread condemnation by residents of the state and sympathisers of IPOB.

Paedophile arrested in Kenya after bragging on Facebook about sexually molesting children

A 23-year-old man, who has been bragging online of his alleged sex encounters with minors has been arrested in Mpeketoni, Lamu County, Kenya.  William Hanga Mwazonbo, a guard at a security firm was picked from his workstation by police  Wednesday  evening, after they were tipped off about his whereabouts.  A team of detectives tracked him to a bank where he works as a guard.  He will be brought to Mombasa for profiling and prosecution. Director of Criminal Investigations said they are investigating if the issues he posted online were real. In photos that have gone viral on social media, the man boasts that he is untouchable by the police. One of his victims in the photos appears to a girl between five to six years, while another is in her mid-teen years. Governor Ajimobi meets with Yinka Ayefele over the demolition of the singer's N800m music house

Oyo state governor, Abiola Ajimobi and singer Yinka Ayefele, had a meeting today to discuss on how the issues surrounding the controversial demolition of the singer's music house by the state government can be resolved. Last Sunday, the state government partially demolished the building, an act that elicited widespread condemnation. At the meeting today, Governor Ajimobi said the demolition exercise was neither a witch-hunt nor politically motivated, insisting it was due to the contravention of the state ’s property laws. The governor maintained that Ayefele is a good man and a responsible citizen. He immediately constitued a committee to resolve the impasse over the demolition. He also urged Ayefele to ensure that his radio station embraced ethical reportage of the issue.

Police arrest notorious gunrunner who supply arms to cattle wrestlers, kidnappers and armed ribbers in Katsina.

The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a notorious gunrunner, who supply arms and ammunition to cattle rustlers, kidnappers and armed robbers hiding at Rugu forest, Safana Local Government Area of the state. The suspect Safiyanu Amadu, 50, of Barbelu village, Bakori LGA, was nabbed on July 9,  following a tip off. Amadu was chased and arrested deep inside Rugu forest and two locally made revolver pistols and one 62mm life ammunition of Ak.47 rifle were recovered from his possession. The suspect has confessed to have intends selling same to cattle rustlers inside the forest. He is currently assisting the police in their investigation.
