21 year old lady arraigned in court for allegedly killing her South African boyfriend in Lagos
A 21-year-old lady, Gift Mike, was today arraigned before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrate’s Court for allegedly killing her 48-year-old South African boyfriend, Daniel Grant. The accused, a cosmetologist, was arraigned on one count charge of murder.

According to the Prosecutor, CSP Effiong Asuquo,Gift committed the offence on May 5th at Room 201, Emerald Cove Hotel, No. 18B, Sinari Daranijo St., Victoria Island where she was lodging with the deceased. She killed him at about 1.30 a.m. on that day.

Asuquo said her arrest was sequel to some discoveries made by the team of investigators following the man’s death in the hotel. Although the deceased was found hanging on the ceiling of the hotel room, police investigation later revealed that the deceased might have been killed and hung on the ceiling to make it appear like a suicide.
He said that the offence contravenes Section 223 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. Section 223 prescribes a death sentence for convicts.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr A.O. Komolafe, however, admitted the accused to a bail of N100, 000 with two responsible and gainfully employed sureties each in like sum. He referred the case to the Director of Public Prosecution for legal advice and adjourned the case until July 11th.

Young man stabbed to death by gang of dangerous youths in Adamawa after he refused to hand over his phone (photo)

A young man identified as Mohammed Danladi Lade was killed in Yola, Adamawa state. According to family members, the deceased, a graduate of the Adamawa State Polytechnic, Yola, was stabbed to death with dagger by members of a notorious gang called Shila during Sallah celebration on Monday,  June 18, at Polo ground in Yola Town. It was gathered that the gang attacked him and tried to snatch his phone but he refused to hand it over. They then stabbed him with a dagger.
